When cacao meets the heart

I love talking about plants, especially when a ceremony is involved. Today I will be diving into all my love for Cacao & her sacred spirit is my favourite non-psychedelic plant to work with as she holds grandmother energy. This is based on my experience with her; she has brought me many healings, reflections & releases.

What is Cacao?

Cacao is the raw, unprocessed version of cocoa. The healthiest chocolate in the world! (it reaally is) because not only is it a sacred medicine to many cultures, it is classed as a superfood. What a bonus that this sacred plant medicine provides so many health benefits. Cacao is a cultivated plant originating throughout South & Northern America, Ghana, Southeastern Asia & Nigeria. Cacao requires tropical weather and tending so she can thrive.

There are several varieties of Cacao, such as Criollo (my personal fave), Forastero, Nacional and Trinitaro. "Food of the gods" was the translated name from the ancient greek language. The Aztecs once travelled to the mountains to discover the sacred plant given by the gods. Cacao is the richest source of natural theobromine.

What is Cacao used for?

Cacao is a plant medicine used for the heart chakra. Cacao expands the heart's energy to feel an abundance of unconditional love. There are many variations of cacao ceremonies. Cacao is used to create a communal space, to reconnect each other to the oneness (singing, dancing ceremonies). Cacao is also a private and sacred practice that can be used for the self-healing journey. Cacao can be combined with other sacred plants like Mushrooms, Rose, Blue Lotus etc. It depends on what you need from the combination of plants, but Cacao is purely for the heart space.

She inherits so much wisdom & allows you to connect with your higher self in such a gentle, anchored way. She brings euphoric energy as well as nurturing. When we journey or meditate with Cacao, we can access her wisdom & she allows us to bring forward our own. Healing with Cacao is a beautiful way to release emotional pain and trauma. From this, we gain unique experience and wisdom.

She is so amazing, I consume her every day whether I have this in my porridge, for a ceremony, or I take a combination drink of ceremonial Cacao with various mushrooms.
